Interviews

Recently making the longlist for the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition, Kitty Perrin is here with new single 'Nothing Bad About Me'.

Centering her music around conversational topics, perhaps on subjects people avoid, she gives us such an open and fresh insight to music we should be listening to. Opening hard conversations with this track lyrically, the mellow melody juxtaposes the story. Captivating so many listeners to appreciate Kitty's glowing voice and stellar songwriting, there is no doubt Kitty Perrin will continue gaining ardent support.

"This song is partly fictional, partly really personal.

It explores an abusive relationship where one person is always kept down by their partner by trying to live up to an unrealistic expectation. The kind of expectations so many women have to deal with in their day to day life - to be smiley, and “motherly”, and polite at all times.

I’ve heard so many times in my life ‘don’t be like that, you’re not like that.’ This song rallies against it. If you feel angry about something, chances are you deserve to be angry.”

Whilst on her journey as a songwriter, Kitty is also a presenter for BBC Radio Norfolk. She hosts ‘The Social’ - a show discussing local youth issues - and their BBC Introducing show where she highlights Norfolk’s best up-and-coming talents. Kitty is so involved in her community, there is no question that you can hear her influence in her music.

‘Nothing Bad About Me’ is the second single taken from Kitty’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Stick It Out’ which will be released independently on May 6th.

“We love men. We really do. So how can we be expected to only be with ONE for the rest of our lives? It might be harsh but although he’s living his fantasy with me, I’m keeping my options open. Forgive me but... “that’s just How It Is”. You’ll hear “How It Is” and think ‘romance’ and you’d be right. It’s a love letter to my sweet damn self. X”

Birmingham born but now living in West London, DEJA released previous single 'Mulan' earlier this year which gained unanimous attention. The stellar star has defined her craft with a pop inspired sound fused with R&B genres, confident she is going to take over the world of groove.

Young South Londoner, Lia Rye comes hailing in with new single ‘Habits’. Showcasing her impressive songwriting talent, Lia introduces the narrative of a self-centred person building their own reality, not one that is truly theirs. A track for individuals who feel they need to be the best, a sad realisation and one that comes close to many.

This single comes as the second release from her upcoming debut EP 'Fever Dream', out 25/03/22. Lyrically standing out from the rest with her powerful and vulnerable songwriting. Producer Joe Gautrey helped to finalise Lia's sound and bring to life her visions of mixing elements of 80s pop with alt rock. Already having ardent support locally and nationally, this EP is going to bless the eyes and ears of the nation.
