Known for being the secret behind some huge hits including 'Go (Now It's Over Boy)' with Crazy Cousinz, 'Falling' by Snakehips, or the Platinum selling ‘Flowers’ with Nathan Dawe

& JayKae. MALIKA narrows her exceptional songwriting into her own fusion of funk especially in her latest offering 'Bless Her Soul'.

Speaking on the track, MALIKA explains; “‘Bless Her Soul’ is a hopeful and uplifting song about trusting the journey you are on, that the difficult times will pass and that you have the strength to get through any and everything. Although the song is called ‘Bless Her Soul’, I think the message of the song is something we all can relate to, especially coming out of the pandemic and with all the unrest we have around us.”

The music video sees MALIKA surrounded by her family to create an emotional visual to the track. Further explaining, MALIKA says; “A lot of my music is for women, women like me, and girls who are navigating life and becoming women. With this video, as the song is called 'Bless Her Soul' I thought it would be beautiful to have a video showing women of different age's, ethnicities and film them in their own spaces. I wanted people to watch the video and see themselves, their mother, sister, grandmother and I think we managed to do that beautifully.”

Hearing this song for the first time was a sense of peace, opening with a folk felt guitar topped with Mac Gray's polite vocals before the harmonic experience starts when Thomas' vocals join. Describing 'Violets' as an indie/folk track, the tendencies pick up throughout with this track being produced by Dublin-based artist Nagam.

An emotional message is in the lyrics of 'Violets', with Thomas explaining the song as "an expression of queer yearning. The song is written from the perspective of a boy who progressively reveals details of his lover's story to the listener."

"Here, Mac & I decided to use flowers, or more specifically violets, as a metaphor for violence & bruises - the ones on his lover's shoulders, caused by his father. The narrator is willing to accompany his partner through ‘hell’ as long as he is by his side. This song is one of suffering, longing and passion - but also one of hope."
