Interviews

Copenhagen-based duo, No Project One, have released their recent alt-rock sound in 'Connected'. Growing up as best mates back in school, the pair have a long history. Jesper Møller and Jakob Hjarsø made plans to move in together and create a creative space to experiment musically.

Gravitating towards the alt-rock genre fronted with guitar riffs and bass, 'Connected' rounds up the exact sound of No Project One. "The lyrics sum up a theme of human connection and feeling comfortable in what you do, where you are and with whom. A moment where nothing else really matters,” Jesper and Jakob explain.

”To us, No Project One means that you rarely succeed in what you do the first time around –that everything must be tried and explored. This project reflects our abilities, curiosity and ideas that narratively tells the story of where we are and the fact that this band is No Project One.”

Playing her collection of cassettes packed with her 80’s inspired discography, Maddie Moon releases more indie sweet magic with her new single ‘mon cher’, out December 16th.

Born in Venezuela but living in Spain, Maddie Moon has been sparkling across international airwaves. Her latest single ‘mon cher’ is a hypnotising melodic mention to a relationship and its deepest desires. Crafted with a jazzy guitar rhythm, Maddie builds up her sonic creation which leaks glimmers of romanticism.

On ‘mon cher’, Maddie Moon explains: “I thought about this song as a manifesto to an unattainable but tangible love where each part of the relationship is described with the deepest of passions, strong feelings and desire.”

Having always been crazy about collecting old cassettes and listening to old music, Maddie loves to make a connection with the past, often wondering if her soul was born in the wrong era. Luckily for her fans, we get to relive the power of the 80’s though her music. ‘mon cher’ is definitely one for a retro roller disco!

Maddie is working on her album, currently planned to be released early next year.

Having already released two previous singles off this EP that gained ardent support from plenty of tastemakers. Seánie and his warm lyricism, acoustic folk tendencies and powerful concepts return for his debut EP 'That Hollow Moon'.

Starting his songwriting journey in his early teens and performing with his hometown friends. Seánie has rooted his feet where he came from with his music branching out to new listeners constantly. This EP weaves through a collection of topics, from friendship, acceptance, songwriting and his family.

Each song holds as much emotion as the next, Seánie Bermingham explains what the final track is about: “Perfect Among Mornings” was written, produced and recorded over the space of two hours. I went on my daily walk through the forests on the farm with my two dogs and on this particular day, I felt lighter than air. It was a turning point for me. I sat on a log by a small pond in the woods and scribbled down a few words. I then made my way back up to the shed to write the melody and recorded it. It’s a snapshot of a perfect morning. The title comes from The Pearl by John Steinbeck, I was reading a lot of his work at the time - “It was a morning like other mornings and yet perfect among mornings.”
