"Flourishes of considerate, impactful accompaniment, these quietly devastating songs accomplish a lot with a little"
- NME Australia
“We toast Ruby Gill… and her bittersweet lamentations and celebrations”
- The Sunday Times
'I'm gonna die with this frown on my face', the debut album from Ruby Gill! This twelve track album comes with some already familiar tunes that have been enticing us in for months. With themes of self-deprecating humour, unhealthy attraction and so many more clever consumptional lyrics.
The track 'I forgot to be profound today' is a piano-led percussion in which Ruby describes as a “small act of defiance against a job that makes me tired and a world that I never feel truly interesting enough for”. This track opens the entrance to what Ruby has to say.
Originally from South Africa, Ruby now lives in Melbourne Australia. You can't help but to wonder if this move influenced any of Ruby's songwriting especially in her song 'Borderlines'. Ruby is praised as one to watch especially with the textures in her music and concepts that surround her imagery.
