London-based songwriter, composer and producer, Wyldest has dropped her latest single 'The Best Is Yet To Come'.
Attempting to overcome writer's block with collaborator Luciano Rossi, Wyldest kick started her thinking into her songwriting. A song bursting with finger picking guitar notes and Wyldest's mellifluous vocals, this track reflects a more emotional side to her. Talking on the track, she mentions her feelings of loneliness and the journey she set out to take, lyrically taking us on a ride.
“This was written in the midst of isolation, friends and family were shuffling around moving away, changing. I chose to stay in the city, but could feel my world changing, disappearing in a way. However I suppose it was evolving into something different."
“Like many people during 2020/21 I felt a little trapped within my own existence, being resistant to change and resentful that people close to me were moving away, doing what they felt they needed to."
“‘The Best is Yet to Come’ is about being hopeful that all the great things we had once are also mapped out in the future too, life is long and comes in multiple different chapters, it’s all part of the journey and we should never lose sight of the the present as things are constantly changing and evolving, so we can just sit back and enjoy the ride.” - WYLDEST
Dropping a music video for 'The Best Is Yet To Come', directed by collaborator Laurie Barraclough, we are visually enticed in. Shot in black and white, it focuses us in to Wyldest's vocals and guitar playing. Whilst also switching perspectives and using light against dark we witness her ability to see the world in a new light.
Following Wyldest’s UK tour supporting Lanterns On The Lake last winter, her band and her will be embarking on a headline tour this September. Tickets are available now.
