Leicestershire duo Vona Vella (Izzy Davis and Dan Cunningham) release their highly anticipated debut EP 'Go Outside Forever', along with the official video for the title track.
Their poetic lyricism allows them to be versatile as well as vulnerable throughout the whole narrative of the EP.
Go Outside Forever Tracklist:
1. Driving to L.A.
2. Threading Needles
3. Sun
4. Rainy Days
5. Go Outside Forever
6. Fool in Love with Me
Title track 'Go Outside Forever' gives us a soft-jazz vibe, Vona Vella explain the track: “It speaks about how not everyone needs to be out their comfort zone to be content. Many people are happy to stay comfortable, and not be constantly working to perfection, and that's okay.” A side of life that is obvious yet looked down upon perhaps when it shouldn't be.
‘Driving to LA’ is accompanied with a super stylish 60's inspired visual. This song is catchy and upbeat kick starting the story in the EP. The bright vocals and visuals are irresistible and drag you into their lives to want more.
Bringing it to the next track 'Threading Needles', this emotive ballad brings Izzy's vocals to the front. This song touches on the more vulnerable side of Vona Vella, they'll definitely be threading our hearts back together after this one. They explain 'Threading Needles' as: “feeling as if you're treading on egg shells around someone who is going through a hard time. Tending to their unpredictable behaviour, trying to tip toe around a sensitive conversation that needs to happen.”
The EP has no doubt in showing us Vona Vella's versatility with next track 'Sun'. The beat built bassline and harmonic vocals let us straight into their stories. Contrasting track ‘Rainy Days’ marks the moment of realisation that you’ve done all you can to help someone, and the only way they can get through their struggles is if they solve them on their own. Accompanied by another astonishing visual (below). 'Fools in Love with Me' finalises the EP with both their soft lulling vocals over guitar picking notes. This touching track made us emotional that's for sure! It is the perfect closing sound, almost as if it should be accompanied by people slow dancing in a ballroom.
“The whole EP was recorded at Albion Rooms with sound engineer Jason Stafford and producer Mike Moore. Both Mike and Jason are really fantastic at their jobs and a pleasure to work with, the EP wouldn't be what it is without them.” - Vona Vella
