Known professionally as Big Yellow Jacket, Irish alt-pop artist Zach Mulcahy has released a first glimpse into what his new sound is all about. Working on his new release with producer Cian Sweeney, the new track ‘Silhouette’ is a reflection of Mulcahy’s journey over the past few years to refine both his song writing and producing techniques into the present sound, easily comparable to Chvrches, easylife or Glass Animals.

Big Yellow Jacket’s latest release, ‘Silhouette’ features layered vocals reminiscent of Justin Vernon’s latest album releases as Bon Iver. Mulcahy’s lyrics stem from observations made of the intricacies of relationships, about the longing to be in love, despite the problems posed both in his own life and the lives of others. This sombre mood echoes throughout the song, without overpowering the catchiness of the beat and the lightness in Mulcahy’s voice.

Speaking about Silhouette…

"'Silhouette’ was written after I had watched a few relationships around me fizzle into nothing, as well as experiencing it personally. Lyrically, the song explores feelings related to watching a structure you’ve known your whole life fall apart whilst struggling to keep your own relationships afloat as well. I was inspired to write about the disillusionment of chasing ‘the one’.”

The release of ‘Silhouette’ is the first of many singles to look forward to from Big Yellow Jacket this year, as 2022 stands to be a great year for him and everybody listening to the tunes.
